The Hulett Collection is pleased to present Still Light, an exhibition of new photographs by Roger Deakins, on view in conjunction with a week of public programs across Tulsa with Roger and James Deakins (Team Deakins). Running parallel to his celebrated career in cinema, the photographs in Still Light are rooted in observation rather than spectacle—quiet moments shaped by light, timing, and an attentiveness to place. Seen together, the works reveal a consistent visual philosophy grounded in restraint, patience, and the expressive potential of the everyday.
Deakins’ visit to Tulsa extends the exhibition into a city-wide cultural moment, bringing film, photography, and conversation into dialogue across multiple venues. Public programs throughout the week include conversations at Magic City Books, the University of Tulsa, and Holland Hall, a ticketed screening of O Brother, Where Art Thou? at Circle Cinema, and the public opening of Still Light at The Hulett Collection. Together, the exhibition and accompanying events reflect Tulsa’s growing role as a place where artists, audiences, and institutions converge—creating space for shared experience, thoughtful exchange, and sustained engagement with visual culture.
