The Hulett Collection is proud to present the second North American exhibition of acclaimed photographer and Academy Award winning filmmaker, Roger A. Deakins. Works on display will include photographs featured in Deakins’ monograph, Byways, as well as new, never-before-seen photographs. The exhibition will open to the public on March 4, 2023 with an opening reception with Roger and James Deakins (TEAM DEAKINS) from 5:00PM - 8:00PM at The Hulett Collection. The exhibition will be on display through April 29, 2023.

In the lead up to the opening, Roger A. Deakins and The Hulett Collection will collaborate with several Tulsa cultural centers for a week of special events. This includes a book signing of Byways, published by Damiani Publishers in 2021, at Magic City Books, an evening of Clips and Conversation with Roger A. Deakins and Sterlin Harjo, creator of Reservation Dogs, at the Bob Dylan Center, and a screening of one of Roger’s films at Circle Cinema.

Sir Roger Deakins is one of today’s most honored cinematographers, renowned for his diverse and expansive body of work. He has been nominated for 15 Oscars, winning twice for Best Cinematography with the films “BladeRunner 2049” and “1917.” Deakins has also received five BAFTA with 10 nominations. In 2022, Deakins was knighted by Prince Charles in recognition of his contributions to film. He remains the only cinematographer bestowed this honor.

In 2020, Roger Deakins and his wife and collaborator, James Ellis Deakins, started a podcast called Team Deakins dedicated to the world of film. Byways (2021) is Roger Deakins’ first monograph and in 2022, his photographs have been exhibited in institutional art spaces and galleries in the United States and Europe to international acclaim.
